Private Tuition

Eastwood Education has a wealth of experience and knowledge which enable us to deliver top quality tutors and advice. A bespoke service, tailored to each family’s needs, Eastwood Education’s goal is to help every child fulfil their potential.

Our tutors have an excellent academic background and significant experience in tutoring. Most are qualified teachers with many years of classroom practice, who will know the curriculum inside and out. Our primary specialists have extensive experience preparing children for entrance exams at 7+, 8+ and 11+. Our senior school tutors are subject specialists, many of whom are examiners on the national exam board.

We carefully select each tutor with a rigorous process. Each academic tutor registered with us must have a minimum 2:1 degree and several years of tuition experience. Many of our tutors are teachers, working in both the private and state schools. Every tutor who meets our requirements is interviewed and references checked to assess their suitability and compatibility with the ethos of the company. We also have specialist SEND teachers, who are qualified in supporting children with dyslexia and other  SEND requirements.

7+ and 8+ Entrance Exams

For many parents and children, prep school admissions at 7+ and 8+ can be a daunting and stressful time. With their years of experience helping children gain places at the best schools, our specialist tutors will be able to support your child through the process. With a focus on engagement and developing a love of learning in every lesson, Eastwood’s tutors will be able to understand your child’s needs and bring out their full potential.

At this young age, tuition will work to complement the child’s ongoing learning at school, alongside exploring new skills such as exam technique and more challenging literacy and numeracy. We recommend you allow a year to eighteen months for this exam preparation.

You will receive regular feedback on your child’s progress through our personalised report cards. Your child and their tutor will complete the report card together, ensuring they are aware of their progress and knows the targets to reach their goals.

11+ and Common Entrance

A large number of selective independent schools in London and beyond use the 11+ as their assessment mechanism for entry in Year 7. As the ISEB pre-tests take place in the Autumn term of Year 6, preparation for the 11+ should begin early to ensure your child is working at their best. Our tutors will first assess the current attainment level of your child. This starting point facilitates an open conversation with you regarding the aspirations for your child.

An up to date list of which schools use the ISEB pre-tests can be found here.

Through our rigorous selection process, we can provide teachers who have an in-depth knowledge and experience of the 11+ process, guiding you and your child carefully through each step.

For those entering senior school at 13+, we offer comprehensive support at this critical stage. Subject specialist tuition can be useful to make targeted improvements where a wider range of subjects are examined. Eastwood Education offers interview practise and can advise on how to broaden and develop your child’s interests and passions.

GCSE

Whether you are looking for some regular tuition to improve your child’s understanding in one of their chosen subjects, or a short-term, intensive booster, Eastwood Education will be able to provide a highly qualified tutor, who can help with subject knowledge, exam technique, study skills and much more.

Whatever your requirements, your Eastwood Education tutor will set out a thorough plan for your child, working with them to meet their individual needs. You will receive detailed feedback for each session your child has. Our GCSE tutors are subject specialists, have experience in guiding children through GCSEs and some will also have worked with various exam boards. The priority is to ensure your child has the support needed to maximise their potential.

A-Level and International Baccalaureate

Once students reach Sixth Form, several big decisions lie ahead: choosing the right subjects to study, determining what next steps to take post A-Level,… it can be an intimidating prospect. Having a knowledgeable mentor to guide your child through the whole process can be invaluable. An Eastwood tutor can help with advice and guidance on university choices, UCAS process, course selection and personal statement preparation. For those applying to Oxbridge, we can provide subject specialists to help with interview preparation.

Specific Learning Difficulties

One-to-one tuition for those children with specific learning difficulties can be helpful; confidence boosting, skills building and coping strategies are just some of the benefits. Eastwood Education has access to network of specialist teachers and tutors who can provide this targeted support for your child.
